58 Year Old Headache

I have been suffering from severe, chronic headaches for over 58 years. I have been to renowned physicians at the best medical facilities who have tried numerous medications and processes such as biofeedback to resolve these debilitating headaches but regardless of what they tried the headaches remained.

I have also been to numerous chiropractors and alternative medicine specialists over the years with little or no relief. It wasn't until I found specialists that dealt specifically with the C1 and C2 vertebra that I finally found relief. Dr. Hough is on of the few chiropractic specialists that deal specifically with C1 and C2 vertebrae that has assisted in relieving the severity of the headaches that I have been living with all these years.

I'm looking forward to the day when I can live without headaches but until then, I will be grateful for any degree of relief that I can get and Dr. Hough is the specialist that can provide that relief.

Severe Fibromyalgia

Life without pain! That was merely a wish until I met Dr. Charles Hough and he adjusted my atlas with his gentle machine that works like a magic wand. Instantly, for the first time in 20 years I had no pain in the upper cercal area of my neck. The deep chronic aches and pains that imprisoned my day after day – gone! Other unexpected improvements were cleared brain fog, full breathing capacity, lower back relief, crisper hearing, shaper vision, increased circulation (warm feet, numbness in fingers gone, recent scars gone in weeks or vastly improve.) Best of all, I have my physical life again and still no aches and pins or upper cervical pain.

About five years ago I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I could not believe I had this diagnosis even though I had all the symptoms. Denial was my temporary friend. I had seen many patients in my own office with this diagnosis, as well as the progression of this terrorizing disease. Shortly after the diagnosis our daughter was conceived and our son followed19 months later. Obviously, in those few years that followed I was distracted by motherhood while my health deteriorated rapidly. I thought the brain fog was a residual hormonal symptom from the pregnancy. I remember feeling very fearful for my future due to my excruciating pain and low immune system.

How could this happen to me….I’m too young to have the level of pain that forces me to my bed several times a day? Up until the last five years I have been in great physical shape with a strong background of being a serious competitive gymnast for many years of my life. Since the accident I have sought out every possible treatment under the sun searching for any type of pain relief. As a last resort I was treated by a chiropractor that stated they were “upper cervical” specialist, which left me with sever vertigo that completely stops my ability to function on any level. The neurosurgeon recommended spinal surgery. The research available at that time reveled the statistics for a cure were not good, so I made the decision to postpone the surgery until the day came where I would be unable to tolerate the pain any longer.

My gratitude for Dr. Hough is not measurable. I have hope, peace, and a future where I can age without fear. I can be the “Mother” and “Wife” I want and love to be for my family. This gift of health that Dr. Hough shared with me, gave me my life back again. I am compelled to tell the world and pay it forward to others who are in pain like I once was just one month ago.

Here’s the count: Careers lost to pain – 1. Years bedridden with chronic pain of unknown, or rather undiagnosed, origin – 4. Doctors, including “specialists” of every sort seen – more than I can count or even recall. Relief obtained – zilch.
It doesn’t add up does it?

The first time I ever walked into a chiropractor’s office it was to convince the Doc that he ought to take a chance on hiring me for a part-time front desk job even though I hadn’t been able to hold on to a job in years due to something called fibromyalgia. I understood little about the condition or the pain it caused but was desperate to reclaim some sort of life for myself as a productive, income-earning member of society and no longer cared who I had to fool to do it – myself, the doctor or the world at large.

I understood far less about the chiropractic profession in general and a unique specialty known as torque-specific upper cervical adjustment in particular. And didn’t care. Doc asked a few questions, received polite suspicion response and told me when to show up for work.

I was scared to death that first day. I’d been brazen enough to get the job but knew it was just a matter of time before I lost it due to pain – or my inability to even spell the word “chiropractic.” Doc told me to step into the back so that he could examine me. Turns out he had helped develop a procedure that he thought could help. I cursed under my breath because I had been tricked into seeing yet another doctor but complied anyway because I didn’t want to antagonize the new boss man. I still would not believe what happened next if I had not experienced it myself.

A few x-rays, a couple of gentle taps on my neck and Doc sent me on my way with instructions to get some rest. I went to sleep thinking how wacky the whole experience had been. This didn’t add up in my mind either.

I awoke the next morning completely pain-free. Even the migraine that I had lived with every day for the past six years was gone!

I started living life again. Met the man I was to marry and began contemplating a move to the West Coast with a mix of joy and trepidation: I wouldn’t be able to see Doc for the monthly adjustments that keep the pain at bay.

Low Back Pain

To Whom It May Concern:

When I first started seeing Dr. Hough, there wasn’t a day without great pain: lower back, neck, down the side of my right leg, a real mess. I was so far out, it took him some time to get me back in line.

He now has me playing golf and bowling pain free for the most part. Now the only time I have trouble is when I don’t see him for three to four weeks.

Another added plus is the laser treatment to my legs, shoulders and back. He has truly been a God send to me.

Severe Trigeminal Neuralgia

I was first diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia some twenty years ago by a medical neurologist. He told me that people with this condition often choose suicide over the pain. Luckily for me, the pain finally went away on its own.

After a fall in July of 2006 the pain returned with a vengeance. It was like someone was cutting the right side of my face with a knife. The pain was constant and I was only able to talk if I keep an ice pack on my face. I had to eat through a straw because the pain on my tongue was so intense.

Dr. Dave Halverson referred me to Dr. Charles Hough, an Upper Cervical Specific Chiropractor. The pain did return and would come and go there after but as I continued to see Dr. Hough I got more and more relief. I would not have been able to function if I had not been receiving the treatments from Dr. Hough. Thank you Dr. Hough.

Chronic Neck Pain

Dear Dr. Hough,

I would like to take a moment to thank you for the excellent job you have done on me.

Before I came to see you I had been suffering from a constant stiff neck and headaches for over three years. The doctors had given me medicine to help with the pain but because of the nature of my job as a pilot I was unable to take them.

Since beginning your treatments I no longer have the problems and they went away after the first treatment. I now sleep better and wake rested and ready for the day.
